BEST PRACTICES FOR HIGHER OPEN & CTR

Newsletters are a fantastic way to connect with your audience and keep them engaged, however, with inboxes overflowing, standing out and achieving higher open and click-through rates (CTR) can be a challenge.

In this blog, we'll explore the best practices that will help you boost engagement and make your newsletters irresistible - letting you in on our secrets on nailing newsletter marketing! 📧

newsletter marketing

1. A SMASHING SUBJECT LINE

Nowadays, everyone's attention span is (almost) non-existent - which is exactly why we need to grab your audience in as soon as possible. The best way to do that is through a great subject line.

Subject lines are going to depend on what type of newsletter it is and how well your audience responds to marketing. It needs to be catchy, punchy and have an element of curiosity to it - pulling the reader in and hopefully making them want to click!

Many brands use an almost 'click-bait' style of subject line, and although these seem to work as the person is intrigued, they can get quite obvious and annoying. It's best sticking to a subject line that links to your content, and matches your brand voice.

2. ENGAGING CONTENT

The online newsletter market is quite saturated for many industries, this means your content needs to be engaging and unique in order to be subscriber-worthy.

Newsletters should strike a balance between valuable information and entertainment. Provide your subscribers with high-quality content that educates, entertains, or solves their problems. Incorporate storytelling, visuals, and interactive elements to make the reading experience enjoyable.

Don't forget to include clear calls to action (CTAs) to prompt clicks and conversions. 🤑

3. CONSISTENCY & TIMING

As cliche as it sounds... timing is everything! You need to find the correct time for your newsletter to be distributed, as there are many statistics available out there to analyse exactly when your audience is going to be most engaged, boosting your changes of getting a better open and CTR.

Many mailing platforms such as MailChimp have 'optimised time' tools that can tell you exactly when the best time to send your newsletter will be. If you're not sure, try researching your specific target audience and when they're most likely to engage with emails.

Top tip - it's DEFINITELY not after 4PM on a Friday. 🤐

That's all when it comes to our open and CTR tips - newsletters can be a challenging thing to get right, after all the creativity that goes into making them, it's only right they should be optimised for the best CTR!
